Have you or your friends been thinking of coming back to Dark Age of Camelot? Have you been holding back the bloodthirsty urge to attack and betray players of your own realm?! Now is the time to unlock that rage!
Our 11th Caledonia event begins today, Monday, April 22nd at 3 PM EST / 9 PM CET!
Read on for the full details!
What is Caledonia?
It's a way to start fresh and rapidly progress to the end-game with players around your level!
The 7-day long event that will take place entirely in the Realm vs Realm-enabled Caledonia battleground zone.
Players will start at level 1 and rapidly progress to level 50 all while earning gear, master levels, champion levels, and realm ranks along the way!
By event's end participants will be ready to compete in the Frontier!
What makes this Caledonia so different?
This Caledonia is enabled for PvP (Player versus Player) which means that you may group with...*or* attack and battle any other player regardless of realm. Only your group-mates are safe from your wrath!
When does the event begin and end?
The event starts precisely at 3 PM EDT / 9 PM CET on Monday, April 22nd a nd will conclude at 3 PM EDT / 9 PM CET time on Monday, April 29th.
How does the event work?
-
Once the event starts, newly created level 1 characters will be automatically zoned into the Caledonia battleground!
-
This will be the ONLY way to get inside the battleground zone. Once inside, characters can voluntarily leave but CANNOT return!
-
All monsters, center-keep guards, and siege weapons are removed for the event. The only way to progress is by defeating enemies in battle and completing the related quests.
-
Experience, bounty, and realm point bonuses will be granted to both free and subscribed accounts in the battleground to help them progress!
-
Earn bounty points for completing quests and defeating enemy realm players and use them to purchase level-appropriate gear as you strive to 50 and then master and champion levels!
-
All characters will begin and remain in the same Caledonia zone for the entirety of the event.
-
The following level caps will be in place for all characters in Caledonia and will increase as follows every 24 hours:
-
Day 1 (Monday): Level 19 maximum
-
Day 2 (Tuesday): Level 29
-
Day 3 (Wednesday): Level 39
-
Day 4 (Thursday) : Level 49
-
Days 5-7 (Fri-Mon): Level 50
-
Characters that reach the day's level cap will still be able to earn realm and bounty points. However, please note there are hard realm point caps and should you hit this cap, you'll need to continue leveling to pass the cap and earn realm points again.
-
Characters that are 5 levels or more below the day's level cap will receive the Caledonia Boost buff.
-
This buff greatly increases the damage dealt and greatly reduces damage received from characters that do not have the buff (higher level characters)!
-
Characters with the Caledonia Boost buff active will also DOUBLE the XP and BP rewards for themselves and their group!
-
When the level cap reaches 49 the buff will be given out to characters 3 or more levels under the cap.
PvP Specific Changes
The following event changes have been made to facilitate PvP:
-
Starting Guilds have been removed. In some cases, you may not be removed from your guild, if you experience this, please /gc quit. Players cannot attack players in the same guild so please make sure you're unguilded.
-
All 3 starting areas within Caledonia are now 'safe areas' where players can get setup, buff, gear up, etc in peace.
-
Players can port between the Albion, Hibernian, and Midgard safe areas via the portal Obelisk at will.
-
Players can create and join cross realm groups.
-
Everyone not in your group is considered an enemy, and may be attacked.
-
Cross realm trading is allowed, however some items remain unuseable depending on realm/class.
-
Battlegroups are not allowed. Chat groups are allowed.
-
Chat channels are open and visible for all realms including region, advice, LFG, etc.
-
NPC's for each realm including trainers remain at their original realm safe area.
-
Some NPC's have been duplicated for quick re-buff and re-engage in combat such as the Realm Enhancement and Hasteners NPCs
-
Buff tokens under level 40 are now free.
-
Buffs from the Realm Enhancement NPCs are now not overwriteable.
-
A new buff token, Beibhinn's Blessing, has been added to the Realm Enhancement NPCs. This token is full capped buffs and useable at level 50 and within Caledonia only.
-
Resurrection Sickness on /release has been removed. Players will still receive RS during battle rezzes.
-
Dummies have been removed from the safe areas as attacking is forbidden in these areas.
-
Overwhelming Force will not be turned on for this event.
The following spell & abilities have been changed for the duration of the PvP event:
-
The Master Level Path Warlord AoE buff spells now only effect the caster and their group.
-
Banespike now only affects your group.
-
Speedwarps now effect everyone, regardless of realm, not in the casters group.
-
All AoE buffs i.e. Druid/Shaman/Cleric aoe non conc buffs only effect the casters group.
-
All AoE heal spells i.e. Valkyrie PBAoE, Druid AoE, Warlord heals, OW Restorative Cloak use1, and Warden proc heals only heal the casters group.
-
Animist AoE bladeturn now only effects the casters group.
-
Paladin AoE cures only effect the casters group.
-
Chain Lightning now affects Midgardians.
-
The level 50 Animist pet in the Creeping Path line now only heals Hibernians in the casters group rather than all Hibernians in range.
-
AoE Resurrection effects such as Egg of Youth and OW Restorative Cloaks cannot be changed and will attempt to resurrect realm mates of the user regardless of group status.
-
Realm target spells such as direct healing and resurrections can apply on players not in your group! Be careful with your targeting, and accepting!
Note: these spell changes are game wide and may be noticed outside of Caledonia, but will revert to normal after the event ends.
Pet Collector NPC
Due to how the safe areas now operate (pets are not charmable in the safe areas as this is considered an "attack"), the Pet Collector NPC works as follows:
-
Speaking to the Pet Collector NPC now gives you a Pet Collector Summoning Stone.
-
This stone is intended to be used outside of the three safe areas only within Caledonia. This is due to pets not being charmable in these areas.
-
Once used, this stone will summon a Pet Collector in order to allow you to summon the desired pet. This mob is useable by any pet charm class not just the caster, and vanishes in 25 seconds.
-
This stone has unlimited uses, cannot be destroyed but can be dropped, and a 50 second cooldown timer.
How far will I be able to progress?
Players that start at the beginning of the event should be able to reach level 50, Champion level 15, Master level 10, and Realm Rank 5+ with the potential to earn much higher realm ranks! Characters will also be able to earn enough bounty points to not only obtain gear as they progress towards level 50 but also to use for end-game gear via Bountycrafting after reaching level 50!
We'll see you on the battlefield at Caledonia!

In celebration of St. Patrick's Day and running from Today, Thursday March 14th until Tuesday, March 19th, a random-object-generated (ROG) reward awaits those who complete the annual 'Leprechaun Treasure' quest. Please remember - one quest completion per character, per year!
To obtain the quest, level 50s should pay the following poor souls a visit to help them ease their woes.
-
Edmund in Cotswold's tavern
-
Bjorne in Mularn's beer hall
-
Silvadren in Mag Mell's pub
-
As part of the quest, players will be shapeshifted into a realm-specific "leprechaun" but have ALL of their stats debuffed by 75%.
-
But fear not, leprechauns may be weak but they are also nigh impossible to catch: shapeshifted players will also have an unbreakable CC-immunity and speed buff for the duration of the shapeshift.
-
Oh, and we hear the real leprechauns love hiding their treasure around the "maze" areas of each realm. Enjoy some zany RvR throughout the event!
-
The ROG reward is a choice between a ring or a bracer similar to the standard Valentine's Day Imp quest with some slight differences. These ROGs will only allow up to 5 slots for stats but will also have 1 of 6 possible /uses.
-
Players that interact with the 'Leprechaun Treasure' at the realms' mazes will now receive a new One-Time Drop (OTD) reward, Patches' Mug.
-
This OTD can only be obtained once ever on a character (and not a new one each year).
-
Players must be on the 'Leprechaun Treasure' quest to interact with the Leprechaun Treasure and obtain this OTD.
For the duration of the event, an additional 50% RP bonus is active in the areas of Pennine Mountains, Breifine, and Jamtland Mountains on Ywain! On Gaheris, the RP bonus has been added to all 3 capital cities.
For players of all level ranges, there are three pesky little tricksters who are hoping you're not too lucky! A 'charming' reward will be bestowed upon those who have the cunning to out-wit:
-
Killaghe in Albion
-
Daighu in Midgard
-
Iollarme in Hibernia
The "Luck of a Leprechaun" quest can be obtained from the following:
-
Sir Prescott in Cotswold
-
Hrolf in Mularn
-
Epona in Mag Mell
Once again, this event will conclude on Tuesday, March 19st!
We wish you a happy and safe St. Patrick's Day!
